Pneumatic impact marking that puts permanent serial numbers, part numbers, logos and Data Matrix codes on metal up to 65 HRC — 0.1 to 0.8 mm deep, at 0.02 mm accuracy. Built and supported in India by ANC.
A dot pin marking machine — also called a dot peen or micro-percussion marker — uses a hardened carbide pin driven by compressed air to strike the component at high frequency. Each strike leaves a micro-indentation; thousands of them, placed by precise X and Y axis movement, form readable characters, logos and 2D Data Matrix codes.
Because the pin displaces metal rather than cutting it away, no material is removed and no stress-raising notch is created. The mark survives shot blasting, painting, galvanising, oil, heat and years of handling — which is exactly why automotive, forging and aerospace suppliers rely on it for part traceability.
ANC has been manufacturing these machines in Chakan, Pune since 2009, with PC-based, touchscreen and fully portable variants, plus in-house spares and 24 × 7 service across India.
Text, serial numbers, logos or 2D Data Matrix codes are entered on the controller, or imported over USB as .PLT, .DXF or .SLG files.
Stepper-driven axes position the marking head to 0.02 mm accuracy, following straight or ARC marking paths.
Air at 4–6 Bar drives the hardened indentor pin, striking the surface at high frequency to form micro-indentations.
Metal is displaced, not removed — the mark survives paint, galvanising and heavy handling without weakening the part.
Knowing the anatomy of the machine makes daily maintenance and troubleshooting straightforward — and every one of these parts is stocked by ANC.
View spares & accessories →PC-based or 7" touch LCD brain that converts your design into precise axis movement and pin firing.
Carbide stylus in 2/3/4/5/6 mm sizes that physically forms the dots. Approx. 10 lac characters of life.
Solenoid valve, e-magnet and air filter regulator delivering a consistent 4–6 Bar impact stroke.
Rigid frame with hand-wheel Z adjustment, plus name plate or rotary fixtures to hold the component steady.
The portable standalone kit ships with the marking head, 7" touch LCD controller, 19-pin data cable, air filter regulator and power cable — so heavy fabrications, tanks, chassis and structures can be marked exactly where they stand, with a working area of 150 × 100 mm (110 × 30 mm head variant available).
| Feature | Dot Pin Marking | Laser Marking |
|---|---|---|
| Marking technology | Impact technology - generates noise while marking | Non-Impact technology - silent marking |
| Marking depth | Deep structural indentation (0.1 – 0.8 mm) | Shallow surface alteration (~0.2 mm) |
| Consumables | Very low — occasional indentor pin change | No physical consumables |
| Best suited for | Heavy metals, thick automotive & forged parts | Fine detail, logos, high-speed batch marking |
| Survives painting / galvanising | Yes — depth keeps the mark readable | Can be covered by thick coatings |

Still unsure which variant fits your component? Send us the part drawing — we'll recommend the working area, fixture and pin size.
A dot pin marking machine is a pneumatic impact marking system. A hardened carbide pin strikes the metal surface at high frequency while X and Y axes move the head, forming a permanent mark out of closely spaced micro-indentations — text, serial numbers, logos or 2D Data Matrix codes.
ANC dot pin machines mark 0.1 to 0.8 mm deep and support material hardness up to 65 HRC, so mild steel, alloy steel, hardened components, cast iron, aluminium and brass are all covered.
No. The pin displaces metal instead of cutting it away, so no material is removed and no stress-raising notch is created in the base material.
Choose dot pin for deep, permanent marks on thick or heavy metal parts that go through painting, galvanising or rough handling, and for a much lower capital cost. Choose laser for very fine detail, logos and very high-speed batch marking on finished surfaces.
A 230V, 50Hz, 5A single-phase supply and a compressed air line at 4 to 6 Bar. Designs can be loaded over USB in .PLT, .DXF or .SLG format.
Yes. Working area, fixture design, rotary attachments and automation/integration with your production line are customised. ANC also delivers, installs and trains operators anywhere in India.
Tell us the component, material hardness and marking size. We'll recommend the right model, customise the fixture if needed, and give you the best price — with delivery, installation and operator training anywhere in India.
